About

There are many well recharge projects exists, but EDCF's Open Well Recharge Project is Unique and Safe. The aim is to avail clean natural water for everyone.


The Technology

The technology is developed over time by Mr. P. A. Padmanabhan, a central government employee who worked on various community led initiatives in Andaman & Nicobar islands after his retirement in the year 2008 focused on community based water literacy and conservation programmes in and around his native village in Trivandrum.

Project locations

The projects are implemented in four locations in Trivandrum district of Kerala:

  1. - Community Health Center, Palode, Naniode Panchayat, Trivandrum District
  2. - Malayankeezhu Panchayat, Trivandrum District
  3. - Valamkuzhi, Kurupuzha Ward, Naniode Panchayat, Trivandrum District
  4. - Kurupuzha Ward, Naniode Panchayat, Trivandrum District

Pre and Post Implementation Scenario

Before 2013 there was water scarcity in the above said panchayats especially in summer, people used to bring water from outside for their daily usages, since the project implemented, gradually the water level increased (in an area of 500-600 Meters around the project) and now-a-days there is abundance of water for their daily usage.

Key Highlights

The projects use less space, simple implementation and secure installation methods, thus it is very easy to replicate and can be implemented easily.
